Lose your Gizmos?

When i worked using 3D Max in my mini-thesis project, i ever lost the Gizmos in 3D Max. Gizmos is navigator arrow which stick on your object (x, y, and z). You couldn’t show the Gizmos using reset feature. So, i was confused by small problem like this. How could you show it again? Here we go!

Choose Customize on Menu Bar | Preferences. You will find picture below.

Check On on Transform Gizmos then OK.
You get back your gizmos. Continue your work! :)

Rendering Object in 3D Studio Max

Hello!

I wanna share how to render your object in 3D Studio Max. If you make objects or text, and you wanna get them as picture or other formats, you need to render your work, not using Export feature. How to render your object? Not  just as picture, you also could get your object as animation using rendering. As example, i made a text “fitrah”.

Autodesk 3DS Max Basic Hotkeys

Hey, namaste! For this posting, i wanna give you basic knowledge for using 3DS Max easier. Yup, if you used design software, you needed to move fast. So, i’m, beginner of 3DS Max will share my tips when i used this tool for my mini-thesis/final project/”skripsi”.

Of course, you need to install this application in your notebook/PC.
Minimum Requirement:
Operating system: Microsoft® Windows® 7 Professional operating system, Microsoft® Windows Vista® Business operating system  (SP2 or higher), or Microsoft® Windows® XP Professional operating system (SP3 or higher)

For general animation and rendering (typically fewer than 1,000 objects or 100,000 polygons):

Intel® Pentium® 4 1.4 GHz or equivalent AMD® processor with SSE2 technology*
2 GB RAM (4 GB recommended)
2 GB swap space (4 GB recommended)**
3 GB free hard drive space
Direct3D® 10 technology, Direct3D 9, or OpenGL-capable graphics card† (256 MB or higher video card memory, 1 GB or higher recommended)
Three-button mouse with mouse driver software
DVD-ROM drive††
Microsoft® Internet Explorer® 8.0 internet browser or higher or Mozilla® Firefox® 3.0 internet browser or higher
Internet connection for web downloads and Autodesk® Subscription-aware access

Next, run this program! You can read detail about work area using F1 *indeed :mrgreen:
Okay, in work area, you’ll 4 different viewpoints, top, front, left, perspective. Working with 4 viewpoints is too narrow view (in my opinion). So, sometimes i need to widen my work area. How? This is it!

Hotkeys :
 1. Widen 1 viewpoint.
Activate the viewpoint you wanna to be widen. Press Alternative <Alt> + W! You catch it! Working with 1 wide area. If you want your work area splitted again, use the same hotkey!
2. Change the viewpoint.
When you are working in 1 viewpoint, and you wanna change it, you can use this hotkeys!
Change to the Left viewpoint = press L!
Change to the Top viewpoint = press T!
Change to the Front viewpoint = press F!
Change to the Perspective viewpoint = press P!

Hotkeys + Working with your Mouse!
1. Smooth Rotation
If you want to rotate your viewpoint, you can press and hold your scroller (on mouse) + press Alternative <Alt> (on keyboard)
2. Smooth Zooming
Press and hold your scroller (on mouse) + press Alternative <Alt> + Ctrl + move your mouse up(+)/down(-)
3. Standard Zooming
Scroll your scroller (on mouse) up(+)/down(-)

Yup, that’s it! Basic hotkeys you have to know if you want use this software easier and faster.
